Manning Street

The landscape scope includes three gardens, water features and hardscape input with the architects.
Though sited in the western suburbs of Perth, the clients value informality, prize the architect’s unique design sensibilities and desire an alternate vision of a residential landscape.
With plantings largely endemic, the landscape has been developed as a lyrical landscape, echoing and partnering with the residence’s floating contoured upper floor. With the ground carpeted in olive grey + seasonal colour, a ribbon of white barked eucalypts are orchestrated as a dance, leading to the rear pool ‘billabong’, garden and water features. Fruit trees and recycled water for irrigation a given.
Design challenges included working with restrictive water use, local guidelines and narrow spaces for gardens.
